Our Process

Whether you’re launching a new brand or preparing to take an existing brand to the next level, nothing matters more than the customer’s experience with your product. So in many ways choosing a product partner is one of the most important choices in a long list of product decisions.

If you’ve worked with a contract manufacturer before, or spoken to others that have done so, this scenario may sound familiar: Brand places an order and then hopes the product is shipped to when promised. Timing updates from the manufacturer? Hard to come by. Production issues going from the lab to scale production? Often not communicated or communicated very late. Basically the supply process feels like a black box, with very little communication from start to finish.

That’s the opposite of our approach.

Our Approach

We believe in total transparency and constant communication, from updating important milestones reached to put your mind at ease, to quickly notifying of any issues that may arise along the way.

But we don’t want a partner to have to wait on us—we want them to know as much about the status of a project as possible at all times. That’s why every client has access to our project management tool, Asana. Asana allows for transparent communication and reflects real-time updates related to every project. As soon as a PO hits, a project plan will generate that outlines every step along the way to final delivery, including requirements, due dates, and task owners.

Like all good project management, this process ensures that potential risks and bottlenecks are properly mitigated and the project progresses as efficiently as possible. Equally as important, it makes collaboration easy. Our partners can use Asana to ask questions, receive updates, and track documentation all in one place.

While every project is a little unique, in general our process with brand partners follows these major phases:

  • Product Development Kick Off

  • Formula Development

  • Sampling, Feedback, and Final Sample Approval

  • Testing

  • Purchase Order Placed

  • Packaging and Raw Materials Received

  • Production

  • Final Quality Review

  • Delivery

Minimum Order Quantity

While we have been fortunate to have scaled with some great brands, we are still grounded in our entrepreneurial roots and the indie beauty community. Our opening minimum order quantity is 10,000 units per stock keeping unit.

Lead Times

Our production lead times are normally 12-14 weeks. For custom development projects, full lead time including product development, requisite formula testing, package sourcing and production is approximately 8-9 months from start to finish.
